We'll actually, I'm pretty sure I am. Before I changed to a vegan diet, I was an omnivore. I basically became vegan overnight.
But anyway, this is Day 2 and my symptoms are:

-Gassy
-Bloaty
-STARVING
-Sleepy
-Sore throat

I don't know if the sore throat actually has anything to do with the diet. I'm probably just reacting to the change in weather. Or maybe it's the onset of my annual strep throat. Ugh. >_<

gassiness is something you might have to get used to. increasing your beans, vegetables, etc makes you kinda fartier :V

the bloating might be a detox effect. when I went raw I was super bloated for a couple days, and then it went away.

are you eating enough now that you've cut out a bunch of food so suddenly? because you might have to increase your portion sizes since your body is used to a wider array of food.

Eating Enough

I thought I was. When I wrote that I was starving I had 1350ish calories. Usually on an omnivore diet, that would be more than enough for me. But maybe it's different without dairy and meat.

Anyway, I did heat up some frozen peas and carrots with some olive oil/salt/pepper, and I sauteed a humongus organic potato with some onion and spicy soy meat. Great idea to have spicy soy meat with a sore throat, huh? XD

Today I ate granola-y cereal, soy milk, salsa w/chips, grapes, beans and rice, more grapes, carrots/pita/tomato/hummus combo, almonds/peanuts/cashews combo, along with the peas, carrots, onions, potatoes, tomatoes, and soy meat in my latest meal.

I probably could have had some leafy greens, but I didn't feel up for a spinach salad today. I don't know though. Does it look like I'm doing okay? I think I am, but an experienced vegan is always helpful. :)

I would increase your calories to maybe 1500 - 1600 a day, since it might take more to get you full on a plant-based diet. but if you're eating mostly fruits, vegetables, and whole grains, the slight increase shouldn't make you gain weight or anything. if you're starving after a full day of eating, try making yourself a big salad. that should fill you up without a huge amount of calories.

and of course make sure you're drinking enough water. :>

Ah good. Gaining weight kinda concerns me. I'm at a healthy weight, but I'm at the higher end of the scale, so it'd be easy for me to go to the overweight side. D=
Yep, I'm just going to have to get used to having to eat more. It's okay though - I'm saving cute animals. =D Yay!

Yes, everything you've listed sounds like detoxing, including the sore throat. However, to address a bunch of these concerns, I would look into Natalia Rose's program at www.detoxtheworld.com ; she has a few great books, especially Detox 4 Women, that I love; since following that program--no problems with bloating or gas whatsoever.

I checked out the website, and it looks like I'll have to read the book. :)
I'm beginning to think the sore throat is the beginning of my annual strep throat that I normally get this time of year. Following the experience of the last four winters, I'll probably feel worse tomorrow. I suppose we'll see. D=< Blech. I hate being sick.

Thanks for the comment!
